It not only in the US. I am in France and insurance works this way and I am guessing it is the case in all EU.I am saying that car insurance polices in the U.S. cover exactly none of that.
For any type of car.
(OEM warranties and after-market extended warranties, sure. And the Taycan after-market extended warranty policies are therefore priced accordingly).
So car insurance premiums for the Taycan in the U.S. are unaffected by reliability issues.
Actually, if anything, based on the nightmare stories in the forum about how much time some Taycans spend at the dealership undergoing or awaiting repairs, our insurance premiums should be lower since a Taycan is less likely to be in a crash or stolen if it's spending so much time at the dealership...
Not sure why insurance would care about reliability. They are not even aware that you dropped your car to the shop for repair. That’s warranty business. Insurance cares about cost repairs in car accidents, frequently stolen cars etc
