Here’s a photo from about 1:45 PM today. It was cloudy but this is what a total solar eclipse looks like. Nighttime during the day.

Cleared up out in NW Travis county for around 3 minutes before totality, and stayed clear for all totality. I really should have purchased the eclipse lens filter for my good camera. Best my iPhone could do…

Ha - had similar pics on my phone - amazingly right on cue at 1:40 pm the sky cleared long enough to see the near total eclipse - caught us by surprise as a few mins before it looked pretty grim :)!

You would only need the filter to take photos during partial eclipse. When fully eclipsed you would remove any filter to take your photos. You also get the diamond ring photo without a filter then need to replace it again after that few seconds pass

True, but getting it set up perfectly (focus, angle, etc) would have taken most of the nearly 4 minutes of totality we had. Not sure even a good DSLR could have captured the full beauty of it, not my average consumer set up anyway.

These were ones I took of the 2017 eclipse from South Carolina
