I have my perfect garage. CT4S and 6-speed manual Ferrari 355 spider for fun.
I chose the Ferrari over a 911 25 years ago (bought new) and nothing that has come out since has appealed to me enough to swap it ;)
Sounds ideal.
The thing I love about a GT3 is that you can leave it anywhere and not be too worried about what might happen to it, particularly if it is a ‘dull’ colour. Rightly or wrongly, I’m not sure I’d feel the same about a Ferrari.
N/A V8, manual gearbox sounds great!

In my view, Porsche should have done more to differentiate the GTS Taycan. Perhaps the smaller battery with more light weight materials would have done the trick to make for something that can handle the kind of track duty that the GTS badge is supposed to be capable of.
Another way to go could have been a RWD with the Turbo S rear motor, all of the performance options, small battery and a few light weight materials. They have enough bits and bobs from their parts bin to make a true drivers EV.

I find it odd that when they do a 0-60 comparison they always default to using launch control. In real world ever day driving I only used launch control in my 911 TTS less than half a dozen times...which means the sprint from the light is very much based on how quickly you react and how quickly the turbos spool and respond vs an EV where the torque is immediate. Taycan GTS will have easily won the 0-60 race without using launch control and would also demolish the 911 GTS from a 50 to 100 mph so in real world driving the instant response of a Tacan is huge vs it's disadvantage of it's weight. On the track as you've all pointed out it's a different story where weight/physics can not be defied!

But what is the domestic price you pay at home? Mine more than doubled, I pay around €0.39 per kWh at home and €0.85 per kWh at a fast charger last week.
Oufff.... €0.26 at a slow charger in the street (Belgium) and €0.35 with Ionity (France)

The formula for a Taycan T perhaps.

Funny enough, I'll be trading my Taycan 4S for a 992 Carrera T (PPGD5GB0). It'll be slower accelerating for sure, but the handling difference by losing 1 ton will be huge.

We're in the twilight of ICE sports cars. This will be my first newly ordered 911 and likely last flat-6 / non-hybrid powered one. I'm hoping to pick up a used Taycan RWD for cheap in a few years, especially if / when the PMCC & EA issues get worked out.

I will be ordering a 911 GTS for the same reason. Keeping the Taycan though. So many will be making a play for an ICE sports car before they are too difficult to come by.

The other angle that hasn't been talked about as much recently is the deprecation bath that Taycan owners are taking. 911 and even 718 values are holding steady or increasing. Meanwhile, my dealer's trade-in offer for my Taycan 4S dropped $25K between July 2022 and now (despite only putting on ~4K more miles)! Buying into a 911 means it's a reasonable instrument of stored value for the foreseeable future, and I can get back into an EV once the RWD Taycan drops under, say, $50K.

Resale isn’t a factor for me. These are part of my fun. I consider them an expense (cash and carry). If I get anything back for resale, I consider it gravy.

No they’re not. Both 718 and 992 prices are dropping, materially. I’ve been following the auctions and for sale ads closely since I sold my GT4 nine months ago. Prices are dropping, and sellers that aren't pricing competitively are seeing their cars sit unsold. Even the new GT3 has seen used inventory balloon and prices start to fall.

A year ago, my *Porsche dealer* bid ~$60k sight unseen on my 2012 911 C2 with 185k kms that was lightly optioned... sold it there and then. I don't think it would be getting more than $45-50k for it now in the same condition.

This comparison seems fair.

I'd expect the 911 to do better, especially given the power:weight ratio and the fact that the track is small and tight. Not well suited for the Taycan being a heavier vehicle and less suited for the task. I did like the comment regarding the fact that as an everyday vehicle, the Taycan is better. That's how I see and many others have mentioned the same. Taycan is a great day-to-day vehicle and allows the 'second' car be a more dedicated sports car.
