I was thinking that with brake-by-wire, steer-by-wire and drive-by-wire moving the pedals and steering wheel should be much easier.

This is a pure example of the hubris of technology; that somehow steer-by-wire + OTA beats a hw setup. ??‍

The RHD variants were axed because there aren't enough sales to justify the cost of the additional tooling. Steer by wire doesn't change the need for a totally revised dashboard assembly and wiring harness.
