First, I think it's very unlikely that an electrified Macan will be anywhere close to $60K. That said I'd go for the quicker version. We have an Audi eTron (which, BTW, is a $75K vehicle just for the sake of comparison) that gets around 230 miles to a charge and have never had a real issue with...
Opinions are like you-know-whats, everybody's got one. I put no more stock in the overly negative opinion from the author of that piece than anyone else. Unsurprising to me that it surfaced in the Washington Examiner. Just MY opinion.
Interesting to hear your subjective impressions. Well done and nice pics, thanks.
Some numbers from Car and Driver's tests of both cars in case anyone is interested:
Taycan 4S, BMW i4 M50

That "beaver" grill design is an example of something that has always puzzled me: How can someone walk into a meeting with an idea that is so obviously wrong and have everyone (or anyone) decide, "Yeah, that looks good to me"? I know it happens all the time, but still...
Really? Maybe you aren't familiar with Tesla's false promises regarding the several times delayed CyberTruck, how they took $50K deposits on the now vaporware Roadster, and their repeatedly hyped and mislabeled "Autopilot" and "Full Self Driving" capabilities, to name a few. ;)
Tesla has done...
Respectfully, you've misunderstood my point. I'm not trying to justify anything. If you re-read my post, you'll note I stated (twice) that the timing issue I described does not explain the beat down nor would it have made a difference in the end result. Still the fact remains that the Turbo S in...
Not saying this would have made a big difference but there was something off with the Turbo S.
Car&Driver tested the Turbo S 0-60 in 2.4 and the 1/4 mile in 10.5 @ 130mph. Motor Trend got almost identical numbers. I applied a stopwatch multiple times to the in-car video of the Porsche at the...
Mercedes revealed a new concept car today. Does it look like anything we might be familiar with, especially from the front view? Also, note the vent openings behind the front wheels. Seen those before? I'm sure they're just "styling elements" though and don't contribute to the 0.17 Cd..... ;)...
The short answer is no. For me, the increased range would be irrelevant and to give up all of the known great qualities of the Taycan in hopes that a new car company, with their first-ever vehicle, will have fewer "unpredictable software issues" and no other problems seems like a real crap shoot.
My 1980 Rolex Explorer II Reference 1655 "Steve McQueen". Wife bought if for me Christmas 1980 and I still wear it on occasion. I don't keep it in the original box but since I have it (and all the paperwork) it seemed like a good way to show it.
I wear a Tag-Heuer Carrera Chronograph daily.
They aren't that different. A model S long range has a base of $90,000 with no rebate and the base EQS with comparable range starts at $103,000 with a (for now) $7500 rebate.
Once buyers begin to discover that to get 400+ miles of range one doesn't have to spend near 6 figures for a car with...
Fair point, although when the Panamera was introduced as a new model 10 years ago it was from a manufacturer with a great reputation who had already been building cars for 60 years, not a startup.
Maybe Lucid can pull it off and follow Tesla's successful example. OTOH, Tesla had the field...
