Sounds interesting. I know Lucid has been involved with building components like batteries for some time, and I'm probably being overly cynical, but my main concern would be spending $170,000+ for a vehicle from a company that has never sold an actual car before. I wish them luck, though.
This.
What we really need is to have more sub-2 second 0-60 cars on public roads in the hands of owners who have never had high performance driver training or track experience and whose only real skill is the ability to write a big check. What could possibly go wrong?
To be specific, then, the interior assembly quality of my 4S is excellent; fit and finish, appearance, and freedom from interior noise/rattles/etc. is first class. The Macan I drove was nice too, but overall I much prefer the Taycan, for whatever that's worth.
As far as PCM is concerned, so far...
Ok, so I guess I'll have to play the role of the contrarian just a little.
I took my 2021 4S in for the update this morning and was given a 2021 Macan S loaner with about 5000 miles on the clock. I didn't play much with the PCM except to select trip information and bring up some media but...
No hostility whatsoever intended on my part and absolutely no apology from you necessary for making a suggestion about a test drive. That was totally reasonable. I was simply disagreeing with your assertion that the Model 3 is "the best 4 door sedan available on the market right now". My opinion...
The biggest thing the Model 3 has going for it, and it's significant, is that it's an EV. But if the advantages are just that it's electric and quick in a straight line, it doesn't come close to blowing away everything else in it's price range in almost every other important area.
For $50-60K...
Cool! The only downside is that if, as the article states, a hybrid 911 will have even higher performance than the current Turbo, to be consistent with Porsche's model hierarchy it will also have a higher price tag.
I've owned several 911's, the first an '84 3.2 Carrera and the last a 2014 GT3 that I sold to buy the Taycan. I have no regrets over that decision.
That said, I think the key sentence in your post is "I've always fancied a 911". Great sentiment. Every Porschephile should own a 911 at some point...
I have plenty of bias with regard to the Porsche/Tesla question; some objective and some quite subjective but I'll spare you all of that and just give an answer to your question.
NO.
NO.
NO.
Sorry, that's 3 answers, but you get the idea.
I've owned 4 911's (and a Boxster S and Cayenne S) beginning with a tourist delivery '84 3.2 Carrera and ending with a '14 991 GT3. Considering that my wife has her own car and we also have a 25' Airstream trailer and a truck to tow it, I really don't have room for more than one vehicle for...
I recently received my copy of Car and Driver and was intrigued by the comparison test of three ICE super sedans from Audi (RS7 Sportback), BMW (M8 Competition Gran Coupe), and Mercedes (AMG GT63S).
I thought to compare the results with the recent C&D test of the Taycan 4S and the numbers were...
I stepped out of my 2014 Porsche GT3 to test drive a 4S. Just to give some perspective, a 475HP 2014 GT3 with PDK would smoke any stock Mustang GT short of of the current Shelby's and even then it would at least be an interesting match.
From a standing start my GT3 would slightly best a Taycan...
