I am sure narrower low rolling resistance tyres would help with range but would probably lose a lot of what I like about the car.

I think that market is different in the US to other 1st world countries (except perhaps Australia). Very few dirt roads or people wanting to use them. Living in a city with a huge, inefficient, expensive "van with comfy seats" makes no sense but it is the current fashion.

My guess is that since Porsche certainly could if they wanted they considered it a pointless excercise given the other compromise needed to achieve a benchmark nobody will use in real world situations.
The big influence in simulating the moving ground is that it rotates the wheels.
With the wheels not rotating, as is the case with most full sized wind tunnels without simulated road, the flow field is wrong in a way not correctable by a correction factor.

Been doing that since the 1970s in Formula 1 but road car companies either have never done a test to discover the magnitude of the error or have, looked at the costs, and decided not to bother.
There is very little aero data for road cars I would be impressed by.
The best thing Tesla did was sort their charging network out early. It must have been a big investment but it is a main reason to buy a Tesla for everybody I know who has one.
