    Had my first EV experience….(Tesla)

Doesn't the Taycan at least allow you to save the vent settings to driver profiles? I always thought that would be the main advantage (rather than just copying Tesla) of electronically controlled vents. I'm asking since I'm planning to buy a Taycan but it's been barely over a year since I put...

    Cross shopping w Lucid

Personally I prefer the bland look of the EQS over Lucid styling. I would need the EQS AMG version though for more sporty handling.

Ah, you are looking at Model Y. I was looking at Model 3 since your comment said Model 3/Y, suggesting similar waits. Either way, so the order to delivery range is 1-8 months, depending on which Tesla you want. Still lightening fast compared to Porsche.

Wow. The most I saw was $25K, but that was without an actual allocation in hand. I even came across one dealer who wanted "only" $15K, also no allocation, but wanted that ADM up front to get on a wait list. I politely declined.

Ha, ha. I bought my first Porsche from Freemont over 20 years ago. Custom order to delivery ~5 months IIRC. They even let me remove a feature which came included in a package (not something allowed today as I understand). Much different times.

Hmmm.... Just went to tesla.com, clicked custom order model 3, long range is Jul-Oct. The longest wait if on base 3 (Aug-Nov), but performance is even shorter (Jun-Aug). And that's delivery time at MSRP, not allocation or production with ADM. If you have any Taycan wait time data, please share...

Not always. Sometimes you only get a spot on a waitlist for a quality and heritage and while you know where they will be years to come, you might still be on that waitlist. Granted, the spot on the waitlist is much cheaper (only a few grand deposit, sometimes even free). I just started looking...

[US] - Over the Top - the well equipped EV home garage…for those that wish to "over do it"…

Your electrician should tell you (or the inspector will), you cannot have a 240V plug (socket actually) connected to 100A circuit. There is a way you can do it, but you will have to add a new 50A breaker between the 100A circuit and the 50A NEMA 14-50 for example. Your other option, probably...

Paint-To-Sample (PTS) Overview - All colors, all models

Does the original submitter of the sample have to agree to make it generally available, and do they get any royalties for each new order?

Paint-To-Sample (PTS) Overview - All colors, all models

Dumb question, why is it called paint-to-sample if it's just a limited set of colors? With a name like paint-to-sample I would think you send in a sample and they match the color to it. What am I missing?

You might have an issue with a 60A breaker feeding a 14-50 plug. NEMA 14-50 is only rated for 50A, therefore the breaker should be 50A or less. Larger wires (rated for more) are totally fine and will pass inspection no problem.

First, I'm not an electrician. I am an electrical engineer though. My knowledge of the electrical code is mostly due to work I do for myself, which includes things like adding new circuits to the house, whether just new outlets, AC appliances, a whole house generator, EV chargers, etc. Doing...

[US] - Over the Top - the well equipped EV home garage…for those that wish to "over do it"…

NEMA 14-50 requires 4 conductors. If you only have 3, or want to save on wiring, you can use NEMA 6-50, which requires only 3 conductors Using a thicker wire (lower AWG gauge number) is always ok. However, check with your local code if there are any additional restrictions, such as a requirement...

Do you have a TeslaTap adapter yet (allows you to charge your VW or Taycan from a Tesla wall charger). If so, try connecting the Porsche Wall Charger --> Tesla J1772 adapter --> TeslaTap --> VW. Wait 30 seconds or longer before plugging in the car. TeslaTap tricks the charger into thinking there...

AWG 1 is overkill for any Level 2 charger, unless you're running it for hundreds of feet (probably even then). My 80A charger on a 100A breaker recommends AWG4 or AWG3. I ran AWG2 and the government inspector who came to inspect the installation still called my solution "over-engineered", but of...

Taycan Turbo S vs. Model S Plaid - really by this much!?

Hmm... perhaps the plate self-destructed while on the way down (quantum physics tells this this is possible, not at all likely, but possible, just like if you run a Taycan at 100mph at a brick wall, there exists a chance, however astronomically small, that the Taycan will in fact tunnel through...

    Anyone considering other EV's?

Funny, my wife is considering F150L too, but she wants to test drive it first. Her other alternative right might be the EQS, but she also still likes her current car very much. We're both driving Model S right now, I decided to switch to Taycan CT because finally there is an EV alternative with...
