You’re right they’re not the same (it’s usually “Ads and Marketing”), but the common theme is “presentation”/ the message the company wants to convey. For them, it’s always been one of uniqueness, racing etc. I have never, ever seen a Porsche-published material that compares their cars against...
When you say "marketing" I hear "ads"; that is, it's what brings a user to the website to click through. Once you're there, numbers differentiating between models are "specs", so not necessarily data that is central to the effort of bringing in a potential customer. (The pretty pictures do help...
Sorry to cut in, what I think @Vercingetorix is saying is that the numbers in Porsche's marketing don't really sway opinions. They are publishing a 0-100/0-60 number because they have to (in the sense of summarizing a car in 3-4 numbers), but even the most casual of gearheads would know a) the...
MY2023, built Nov ‘22.
And to clarify, I’m referring to the cut-off of regen at 6mph; if the brake pedal pressure is “just so”, below that cutoff it feels as if the car is lurching forward. It can be unsettling for the casual/unfamiliar driver.
I forgot to add a couple of points:
- re cost of weekly charging: in WA there is absolutely no question that home charging is way ahead. Gas came down somewhat to 4.20$/gal (this is not an Elon joke), and during skiing season I’d need at least 1 tank/week, so $70-90. My wife drives less, so now...
Oh wow, a topic I am actually qualified to address..
I’ve had a Macan S as my daily driver for ~4 years and ~40k miles. It went through deep snow, HomeDepot runs, long trips with 4 people (or 3+dog), and everything in between. (I didn’t tow with it, but may yet do that.) Very comfortable, good...
Something something core competencies etc. Good on Porsche for the admission. Software in cars doesn’t bother me at all, but the arrogance of “hold my beer, I’ll do my own software-defined car” approach of many manufacturers lately is more than a bit annoying - it’s not that it can’t be done...
I think it’s worth watching; I usually like Cammisa’s Clarksonesque takes on cars, and although this one seemed overly fawning, it is still informative.
I don’t think it needed to look like _that_ to produce/carry all the other innovations, but this is a reminder that Tesla are damn good at...
@Zcd1 you laugh (and I do appreciate your comprehensive data set), but _my_ actual consumption is what really matters to me. I would not make a trip plan/decision based on any published data anywhere - that's just fodder for pub talk.
A couple of points:
- not sure if you noticed, depreciation seems to be quite the concern around here; the longer you keep the car, the more impervious you are to its effects. Not only that, but EV infrastructure is getting better with time. (I would speculate that the slowdown in EV sales may...
I, too, wanted to comment on your observations re driving position; there were 60 years/8 generations of 911s, and while I haven’t sampled them all it seemed to me there were significant differences between the older ones and the new era (991+). I sat in a 718 Boxster and felt like I was in a...
I should have taken an example. As discussed earlier, we can tackle the problem at the 'collection' phase (what can govt/companies capture), or the 'sharing' one (who has access). Ideally we'd limit the collection, and that set of rules would apply equally to all entities - no need for...
It's a bit of both ;) - and well spotted.
True, but:
- turns out sometimes the gov't itself wants some of that data. And then it becomes difficult to justify to citizens (at least in a reasonably democratic society) why it's ok for them to collect that data, but not ok for private parties...
@pnw-ev-nerd seeing how my previous response angered you, allow me another attempt:
- I read the articles, and honestly found them a bit tendentious; they were clearly written from the perspective of "privacy is the most important thing ever" (which is personal/subjective), but still felt the...
No doubt. But it’s a bold claim to include these in the “best of 30 years” - that’s basically all of modern motoring.
I guess I’ll give it a watch, and prepare to be disappointed. (Although I am a massive fan of British motoring press.)
(And thanks for the correction - I knew that wasn’t a Ka...
