Porsche is losing interest in EV's - they are finding them too hard and they are crying themselves to sleep wishing they could go back to over charging for exhaust note generators…

Yeah, IMO, they need to approach their EVs with a more enthusiast perspective, like the engineers of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

1) Paddle shifters for regen
2) Activatable 'boost' button (same HP unlock that is used on launch control but also manual when motor conditions are met again, could be used to prepare for a pass or something)
3) Fully customizable power distribution F/R for AWD setups
4) Amplified natural motor sound that can be dialed up or down, maybe a bit of EQ to take out some of the harsher frequencies. Personally the natural sound of the Taycan AWD vehicles when decelerating is my favorite EV sound

I haven't experienced the simulated gears on the 5N, so I have no opinion on them, but the above 4 are obvious and would bring a bit of 'control' back to the driver. Which is what drivers want.

I dunno. I've walked down the renewed 911 assembly building – where they are currently building the hybrid variants and are fully ready for the electric 718 to go down the same line. It didn't feel like they weren't taking it seriously.

Same for the Taycan factory. Granted its on one shift a day (due to reducing demand; likely purposeful by raising new purchase prices) it again looks like a very significant investment and effort.

Its not easy to build new facilities at Zuffenhausen and yet they recently tore down their dealership there to make way for more electric vehicle production.

For sure – there is a EV wobble on for traditional car manufacturers – but I wouldn't conclude that Porsche would like to just ignore the entire thing.

I expected that there would’ve been a bit more fanfare around the EV Macan launch. What there was was insular (invites to the Porsche customer community to take a ride in one at an Experience Center). Otherwise it seems to have just ingloriously “shown up” in Porsche’s lineup.

There’s been even less news from Porsche about the 718 EV, even though its mules are being spotted on the roads with less & less camouflage. It’s almost like they’re embarrassed to bring it to market.

My only conclusion is that, with current ICE. 718 order-ability through Oct 2025, we may not start seeing allocations until December of that year or even 2026.

What the hell, Porsche?

Here's an artists rendering of the new 718 EV without camo:

Thanks for posting that, but unfortunately it just rehashes what we already know. There’s no statement directly from Porsche that these will still debut in 2025. The author concludes on his own that they will, based on the fact that mules have been spotted “in recent months”.

We'll know definitively by March/April as that is when they do their major press releases (like when they announced the Taycan RWD model). If they're fully green lit, we'll get a full reveal without camo (all mules are not reflective of the final design). I suspect they'll either be postponing it due to retrofitting the ICE variants into the EV platform, or keeping on EV release date while offering ICE variants later down the line.

As far as test Mules, they've been floating around for 2 years now (first spotted Nov 22'). So mules are very old news. I'd be more interested to hear about the all the new tech, like pack layout, size, all the technical details and options they'll be rolling out.

The Taycan originally went on sale in October 19', I suspect it follow a similar release schedule: Oct 25' order date, deliveries in December 25'.

However, I am waiting for the hardtop variant so it will likely be a year after that. Perhaps I may lease the convertible variant. I am sad for the lack of information on the hardtop.
