Is there any way to mount a cargo box to the roof without the optional rails? Remember these are frameless windows so cannot use the hook method that bewteen door and door ring.

I have the hitch option to haul bicycles. My last two vehicles had roof rails I never used. Thus, trying to skip this option.

Same here. Don't think this will become available from manufactures like Thule. You can however get a Thule Arcos Large Box if absolutely needed.

:CWL:. Unless you have a weekly hobby requiring roof rales, better renting equipment you can't fit in (kid's surfboards in our case).
