Just taken ownership of a black 996 3.4 manual convertible to join my Taycan 4S CT.
What a fantastic car. Suddenly made the Taycan boring and obsolete ( in terms of pure driving pleasure).

Congratulations!
Enjoy And have fun with it.

I also own a 996 C4 cab manual, from Feb 1999. 25 years old now but still going strong. Great car to drive on the hilly alpstyle roads around here.

1999 mine as well! I like how simple it is. Sport seats, manual box and LSD, all you need in a car…

Do you not appreciate the Fried egg style??
lol…no. But it is a nice looking car otherwise. I think they make 997 conversions or covers or something for them. I would do that if I ever got one, but it’s not really on my list.

I would love to add a 914 personally. I don’t think it’s a generally coveted car, but I like them.

I used to walk to the bus stop to go to high school.
And I was always walking the long way to see a beautiful silver 993 with blue top.
However when the Boxster 986 appeared in 1996 I loved it immediately. When in 1999 I took my driving licence the car to dream of was the 996 convertible :).
When the 997 appeared I had lost interest in the 996 and fried eggs headlights but mostly because I couldn’t even afford my shared apartment rent and I had stopped dreaming at that point.

From 2019 I have then started to buy all the toys I couldn’t afford between 1999 and 2018 :) I have almost ticked all the cars in my list. Dreaming of Countach 5000 and F40.
I would probably love to have in my garage that 993, blue top and sport black interior…

Nice! Congrats. This was my dream car as a kid (I’m a 90’s kid)

btw what is the range of the 996? I got that question a lot with my Taycan, so apparently it is a Porsche thing to ask!

I was thinking the same yesterday. I am half tank short and I have done 107 miles. Around 214 miles full tank! Close to the range of my CT ?

I loved the look of the 993 when it came out and considered changing my TVR Griffith for one but the test drive was disappointing, the Carrera had less power and weighed around 300kg more than the TVR so felt really slow. I waited to try the turbo which had so much lag it was hateful on my most frequent journeys.

I like your 996, today the “911” is a big heavy car with styling clues of a real 911 - but isn’t one IMO.

Well the range easily topples the Taycan! I can get about 475 to 500 km out of a tank, unless I go for challenging mountain roads! On driving along French motorways I can get even more T legs speeds. No problems with refuelling either. ??

Thanks for this info. My Taycan will depreciate even more ;)

Btw, you have a really nice car collection according to your bio. You should make a thread sometime with some pictures of all the cars. Love to see them

Congrats @Crazymind - they're cracking cars. Can't wait to get mine back on the road.

Surprisingly frugal, these cars; ~3000lb, long 5th and 6th gears, i can get ~330mi on long trips, from the standard ~17 gal tank.

Really?! I get almost 600 miles/tank out of my 992.
You must have the extended/endurance tank? 21 or 24 gal?

Gratuitous shots of a fellow 996 (DoB Nov '02, exactly 20 years before its Taycan stablemate).
