2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric Sees Record Early Demand
Porsche says customization options have driven record online traffic ahead of its 2026 arrival.
Porsche this week opened ordering in the United States for the upcoming 2026 Cayenne Electric. The new EV will slot into the lineup alongside the existing gasoline and hybrid versions when it reaches American dealers in late summer 2026.
If early interest is any sign, Porsche won’t have trouble finding buyers. The Cayenne Electric is supposedly the most customizable version of the SUV yet, and Porsche says its U.S. configurator has already logged more than 110,000 unique builds in the first four days, a record for the brand. Another 10,500 people have already registered interest through Porsche’s hand-raiser program.
The Cayenne Electric offers 13 standard colors, nine wheel designs, and a dozen interior choices, with Algarve Blue Metallic over Club Leather Espresso emerging as the most popular combination so far, according to Porsche. Beyond those choices, the automaker is making the EV available through its Paint to Sample program, as well as through Sonderwunsch, where customers can commission true one-off builds.
To showcase the range of personalization possible under Sonderwunsch, Porsche brought a fully restored first-generation Cayenne GTS with three pedals to the Icons of Porsche event in Dubai. The 16-year-old SUV was rebuilt from the ground up and finished in a Paint to Sample Blackolive exterior with an English Green interior—a rare look for the early Cayenne and a signal that Porsche considers the model an emerging classic.
"The Cayenne Electric is new from the ground up . . . the most capable, spacious, and performance-oriented iteration yet,” said Timo Resch, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America.
The Cayenne remains one of Porsche’s most important models in the U.S., accounting for more than 22,000 sales last year.
