A Taycan Owner Buys a Tesla: Informal Battle of Two (Very Different) EVs!

@TaycanHero If you want a Model 3 as a bridge until you get a GTS, I totally get it. What is the lead time on getting a Model 3 in the UK? I can't imagine it is not much better than waiting a year for a GTS. There are so many interesting cars that are in the cusp of rolling out, but the...

A Taycan Owner Buys a Tesla: Informal Battle of Two (Very Different) EVs!

@TaycanHero : excellent post. I think you are spot on about the non-car topic. The vehicle interface differences between Porsche and Tesla comes from two different schools of thought in regards to vehicles - Porsche built a car first, and then shotgunned software to help manage it, while...

A Taycan Owner Buys a Tesla: Informal Battle of Two (Very Different) EVs!

I'm currently in market for a Model 3 Performance while I wait for my Taycan. It doesn't excite me but that's a good thing. I will probably love it as my expectations are so low. Test drive when I'm back in the UK. We will see. The Tesla will be quicker and have a longer range than my GTS...

A Taycan Owner Buys a Tesla: Informal Battle of Two (Very Different) EVs!

There is a side between Elon Musk and Bill Gates? If there is, I will side the man who donated billions of his dollars to help alleviate global poverty and fund medical research to help people in developing nations. I don't give a $hit if Elon Musk says Bill Gates has shorted Tesla stock...

A Taycan Owner Buys a Tesla: Informal Battle of Two (Very Different) EVs!

You are absolutely correct. The guy is a visionary and knows how to "push the right buttons" for large scale disruptors like Tesla, SpaceX, the Boring Company, and earlier, PayPal. However, please remember that he was not the original founder of Tesla. Credit to him that he purchased it...

A Taycan Owner Buys a Tesla: Informal Battle of Two (Very Different) EVs!

I bought a Model S in 2015 and a Model X in 2016. I bought another new Model S in 2018, but it had issues within the first month and I worked with Tesla for them to buy it back. The Model X, for being an early production, was surprising reliable, but I ditched in 2019 for a Cayenne e-Hybrid...

    Rented a Model Y

I would rather walk than have anything to do with something associated with Elon Musk.

    Test drove EV6, ID.4 and Polestar 2

I totally get it. Kind of a bummer you don't get an employee discount since the car was way better than I expected. I was curious if you were able to find cars in inventory to buy once you make your decision? The Cross Turismo I have on order is due to start build this week - a month later...

    Test drove EV6, ID.4 and Polestar 2

thank you for sharing your opinion on those cars. On Saturday, I spent 3 hours with the new '22 BMW iX xDrive50. I realize you have a certain budget, but if you decide you want to expand the budget this vehicle is pretty good for what it is. If you can get past the look, the vehicle drives...

Porsche Landjet 2025 "a [7-seat]] EV capable of going about 404 miles on a charge" - article link

Evidently the future is not being made for people over 6'3!!! Over 1.9 meters, for our metric friends. All these super cool, long range electric cars need low aerodynamic drag, which makes it not so fun on us slightly taller people to get in and out of. I am already boarding on "clown car"...

Way off topic: when my Taycan met Rivian

James, I will replace my e-hybrid Cayenne when my Rivian arrives. I am sure I will not get mine until the end of '22 or the beginning of '23, so it will be a while. There is no way I am not going to have a Taycan. They are are just too fun to drive.

Way off topic: when my Taycan met Rivian

I saw 4 R1T's today - the white one, the gray one, the blue one, and the yellow one. The yellow one was being driven off as I arrived, and the other 3 belong to employees, so they are not demo units. I also did not want to be "that guy" and ask an employee to take time out of their day to...

Way off topic: when my Taycan met Rivian

I have taken this week off from work, and also saw that the new Rivian service center is now open in Denver. I decided to take a little field trip to check out the R1T since I have one on order, and had yet to see one in person. I took a couple of pictures in case anyone is interested. I...

    Vaporware salesman Elon

I am a Tesla and Space X fan - the vision and effort to get both of these organizations to where they are is impressive. That being said, I can't stand Elon Musk, so I will never buy another Tesla as long as he is still associated with Tesla and has an active Twitter account. We can all...

Spanish Fork EA chargers and a group of 3 test Hummer EV’

Not trying to be a jerk, but am I the only one who think those things are ugly monstrocities? Plus, they take up more than one parking space. Leave it up to GM to make something like that. I have done the drive from Green River to SLC many times. It is a fun drive, in little to no traffic...

    Yes please…and thank you.

Agreed! Would make me hold on to my e-hybrid Cayenne a little longer if I knew I could replace it with a full EV Cayenne version in a couple of years. It they could squeeze 300 to 325 miles out of it then it would the perfect road trip vehicle.
