They referred to Tesla as “ultra-luxurious” so they must have tested a different car than they currently sell ;) There are always excuses for not hitting the range, but I think the above is a worse issue. If you can’t have an accurate estimate it makes for tough planning.

Right now, you need the dealer. They did say that eventually customers can track this in the app, including seeing the car being built, but that is not available yet.
