    Tesla Price Drop

Some people get a kick out of leaving $200K+ sport cars in the dust at the lights, highway onramps, or passing on highways.

    Tesla Price Drop

If you want power for straight line acceleration, you cannot beat this price. Will pull away from even Taycan Turbo S, with or especially without launch mode.

    Tesla Price Drop

Teslas and Ford EV's have experienced a drop in demand. Tesla countered with aggressive price cuts, Ford did too but not as aggressive. While Ford dealers were able to move every Mach-e off their lots a year ago, today some of them are refusing additional deliveries from the factory as they are...

    Tesla Price Drop

Model S still has a stalkless yoke (rounded or not, still stalkless). While I could probably get used to it for normal driving, in a split-second decision driving situation, it will eventually cost me an accident, so it eliminated Tesla from my choices after 4 Model S's. My wife also ended her...

Taycan GTS v BMW iX M60 v Chinese Teslas: DRAG RACE

I was not expecting all-season tires to grip less in wet ~60F/15.6C than winter tires in wet ~45F/7C. Dry performance of the all-season is fine, it's just the wet performance that the winter tires seem to do much better on, even in warmer weather. Winter tire compound if softer, and it has a...

Taycan GTS v BMW iX M60 v Chinese Teslas: DRAG RACE

I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that they just used stock tires which come with the car. Taycans may not come with the absolute best tires. Since I picked my car up in the winter, I drove with GoodYear UltraGrip gen1's on the car for the first couple of months. In the spring I put on the...

Taycan GTS v BMW iX M60 v Chinese Teslas: DRAG RACE

Without launch mode Taycans are not as impressive. This shows with the rolling races too. That has been my only big disappointment with Taycan drivetrain design - why lock away the top end of power behind a launch mode only for drag races?!? If I wanted power only for drag racing I would have...

    Porsche Software Testing

They are testing it on 30 RiL rigs, I can almost guarantee they never test edge scenarios such as marginal cell coverage, possibly not even no cell coverage. I am convinced the intermittent locking out of my app (says car is in privacy mode even though they car says it's not) is related to some...

    Porsche Software Testing

The more scary part of this is, how were they testing it before?

[North America] - FAQ: the ultimate guide to the Porsche EVSE PMC+/PMCC/PWCC

I cannot help but notice that according to this reply the warranty only applies if you install through a Porsche authorized installer, so essentially no warranty if you have your own electrician or install it yourself. :( Yet another reason not to buy Porsche EVSE - not only expensive to buy...

    [Perspective] - A happy Taycan owner road trip’s his Daughter’s Model Y…

@daveo4EV , have you considered what will happen to the supercharger network when it opens in 2025 to most other cars. There will be another 3 million Teslas on the roads, plus all the Fords and other brands which will provide adapters. I know in big cities Tesla owners already complain about...

Oh god no! Taycans do not need ejection seats, especially controlled by the PCM.

One interesting thing to note, Audi eTron does allow closing the trunk from the remote, but disallows opening the trunk with the remote if the car is on (e.g. pre-cooling), so it's not some corporate VAG liability thing, rather it seems like just random decisions made in engineering without...

I can see how you can claim the trunk not closing when I walk away , or the fact that I cannot close it from the remote, is due to some overly paranoid safety restriction. But car not allowing me to lock it, even when I hit the lock on the remote seems opposite of paranoid - is it really safer...

I hear they allow that in Russia. The rest of the world has to pay Porsche a monthly subscription. Allowing WiFi would allow people to not pay Porsche, but use their own hotspot instead. PS> I solved the no cell signal in the garage by installing a Verizon LTE Extender (a femto cell), but I...

Unless you have owned a Tesla, you just don't know what you're missing. For example, something as simple as walk-away lock (missing in a Taycan), not having to press a button to start/stop the car, car locking whenever you press "lock" on the remote (or just walk away) - Taycan does it 95% of...

And therein lays the issue. Hyundai sells much higher volume of cars, which results in a much higher budget for software development. Unless Porsche can leverage VW software, it's going to be lagging forever. Software is very expensive to develop, qualify, ship. PS> My wife has an Audi Q8...

I get there are out of commission stations. I do however wonder, would you have been able to make this trip at all in a Taycan, would Taycan or ABRP route you around the broken chargers if they show unavailable? How likely is it that you'd get stranded or that Taycan would tell you there is...

I just booked a trip to California for later this month, Model 3 was the cheapest option at Hertz, other that the “mystery car”. Even Economy was more expensive.

Taycan is actually a fast charging EV, so that makes the difference small. In the end the difference between the Taycan and the Cayenne would be negligible to me. The only time Cayenne would be better is when traveling into areas without working 150KW+ DC charging.
