My car hasn’t been delivered yet but it does have the Bose set up. Despite that, I would be interested in an upgrade that was specifically designed for EVs. Something that draws relatively low energy, is fairly lightweight and delivers premium sound would be awesome. It’s been 20+ years...
Sure.
simple service which basically amounts to an oil change - $700
I recently had to have 4 brake pads replaced - $2000
If replaced the rotors too - addt’l $3000
A part of the reason I’m going to full electric is eliminate/reduce this nonsense.
I have a Pan ST 4S now and a Taycan CT 4S on order. Before ordering the Taycan, I took a hard look at the hybrid Pans. Keeping in mind that Porsche absolutely takes advantage of its customers on routine maintenance/service, I decided against the hybrid. I like the Pan more than Taycan but...
The Porsche formula of engineering, design, and a sensory connection to driving is pretty addictive. If you place the highest value on the kinds of things they focus on, it’s really hard to find an alternative. If, on the other hand, you focus on value, technology and convenience, many other...
This will only serve to increase the costs of developing technology and new vehicles….which is currently shared across VAG. Makes little sense to me from an investment standpoint and potentially less sense as a customer too. I know that they make a lot of money per vehicle but they also...
Taycan is for sure more of a mid-tier car from a Porsche pov. True luxury is being reserved for the Pan. It was also less risky for Porsche to create a completely new variant for their first EV. If it was a flop, they could have simply killed the Taycan brand and moved on without injury to...
Once the electric A6 was announced, the Panamera EV was inevitable. The Taycan is my “in between vehicle” I went with the Taycan primarily because, I want to let Porsche get through the teething issues on the Panamera before jumping in.
The future of EVs is pretty bright.
I saw on YouTube a few months back that the US also passed an obscure regulation for automakers that does something similar. The way the YouTuber described it, it would give the authorities the ability to perform an override of your vehicle to bring it to a halt. If true, it’s certainly one...
I nearly ordered a hybrid Panamera but I backed out when I reviewed the combined service requirements for the two systems. I would have transitioned with a hybrid otherwise as I generally like the Panamera ST more than the Taycan CT. When the full BEV Pan is available, I am likely to go...
Despite my eye being calibrated to Porsche design, I think this car looks great. I hope they are able to bring it to production. Candidly I am surprised that this company still exists. Their success is likely to be driven by their ability to get to production rates at one of the most...
I would keep it as a 2nd car. The Taycan is great but I wouldn’t want to park it everywhere or rack up excess mileage with it. The Genesis should be good for the times you want to have the Taycan “sit this one out”.
I could see legal, financial and technological solutions to this eventual challenge. I remember when 6 seconds to 60 was the threshold on what was considered quick/fast. Now its more like 4 seconds. When only a very small amount of cars are capable of this, it wasnt much of an issue. It...
I expect that at some point there will be laws that limit the amount of cars that can accelerate this quickly. Right now, there are cost factors that limit the number of cars that can do this but when the average commuter car can do 0-60 in 3 seconds or less, the daily commute will become a...
Awesome post! I have a Pan ST now and am going to the Taycan. Before making that decision, I looked hard at the Pan e-hybrid ST. I think you both have awesome cars but your Pan has the better color in my opinion.
Cheers to both of you having excellent taste in vehicles. I would love...
Agree. Not sure that any manufacturer can take claim (or should take claim) for the crying tears design. I can see how it’s helpful for aero but even the best designs in this regard should be tolerated not celebrated (including Taycan).
I think the MB effort shows that several of the top...
The first Taycan I ever saw was a mix between a sedan and a CT…not pretty. The MB is a technology demonstrator vehicle. As such, I think it shows tremendous promise.
I don’t care for the exterior styling but I like everything else about this car a lot. If the exterior styling was better, I likely would have gone for one instead of Taycan.
