Aren't the 4 other brands you are considering unknown to you? I think they are all on 1st gen tech as well.…. A lateral move at the top end of the food chain isn’t a bad one IMO ??
I would just CPO another flavor of the Taycan and keep on rolling. Everything else is a step down if driving is #1 on the priority list. Porsche pricing is just mean….hard to justify a new car absent a tech breakthrough.
Having owned the Taycan and Macan, I would say that neither of them are ideal people movers…both vehicles are a bit too ”cozy” for rear passengers. I would add a Cayenne to the stable if that was one of the main missions.
I like carplay a lot but I agree with the post above. Automakers need to keep their individual identities if/when they let Apple ‘take the wheel’ on basic UI.
I continue to be impressed by Hyundai. If they can keep their prices low, I think they will continue to be successful by offering the kinds of things that most people want at a good value.
My Panamera was an excellent cruiser but I had a different model. Perhaps one of the downsides of the GTS Panamera? I like my Taycan a lot but for different reasons…
I miss the premium interior of my Panamera (buttons included). If they put Taycan gen EV tech in it, I will pass on it but if it is a next generation product, this may be enough for me to make the switch. Only wild card is price as Porsche products have become insanely expensive. An EV...
If the average consumer would cross shop the vehicles, I say the comparison is warranted. Just keep in mind that folks like us that participate in forums like this are generally not the average consumer.
I loved my Panamera but it’s a higher level car than the Taycan. Bigger and more luxurious inside. It’s also a better cruiser than the Taycan but I am done with Porsche ICE vehicles except for the 911. Porsche takes advantage of its customers on service big time and their ICE vehicles offer...
Cayenne is an obvious answer but it doesn’t appeal as much to rational SUV buyers that enjoy vehicles like the Lexus. I actually am in the market for a new hybrid SUV for my wife. I am leaning towards the new Lexus 450+ for her. I think it answers the mail on the stuff she cares about.
It’s a long video, if you are unable/unwilling to view all of it, I would highly recommend two sections:
- Torque vectoring & calibration - great for us technical geeks
- Silverback Jack - fun for everyone
No rational Porsche owner should be triggered into justifying their vehicle purchase decision based on what Tesla/Elon is doing. One can only guess as to what he is thinking, but I am fairly certain that nothing he is doing is targeted at creating the most passionate and engaging driving...
