  1. [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

Out of interest - is the $ 74K after tariffs ?
  2. [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

The EU saw that coming so apply tariffs on Chinese manufactured cars - it will rise to 45% in a couple of years - the power of the German manufacturers holding sway over the EU. That why BYD etc are dumping cars in the UK to make up for a tightening EU market.
  3. [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

I think one of the main reasons Porsche and German manufacturers offer so many options is because very few would buy a base car but forecast residuals % are compared against the base. Therefore a car actually bought for say $ 120k with a ‘base’ price of say $ 100k in 3 years a residual of say...
  4. [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

In the UK the take up of personally owned EV’s is very low. Most of the EV sales are for company car drivers due to the significantly lower personal tax. There are no incentives to buy an EV - even the subsidy of home chargers has been removed for home owners. EV’s are £’000 more expensive and...

I think all Western manufacturers are struggling in China. They have been saying for years that the Chinese government were heavily subsidising Chinese EV’s. Trump is adding cost to make imported cars uncompetitive, China artificially reduces costs of Chinese EV‘s to make imported cars...
  6. "From Tesla To Toyota: How Software Is Hitting Reset On Cars" - article

Clearly the Board and shareholders didn’t rate the guy. The articles I have read said he was ousted, hence the immediate step down and the fact they reappointed his predecessor. His Chinese masters seem to be having a rethink - they divested their ownership of Polestar with little or no warning...
  7. BYD showcasing 1000kw charging in their new sedan Han L EV

I take the point about far fast charging meaning chargers becoming available much earlier but governments are mandating an ever increasing % of new car sales to be EV’s. The UK market is flooded with used EV’s coming to the end of their very tax efficient leases which has meant residuals have...
  8. BYD showcasing 1000kw charging in their new sedan Han L EV

The UK is struggling to provide the power for new 300kw chargers. In my ignorance I think that a 1,000kw charger will require the power of 3 x 300kw so here, we’d probably end up with queues a mile long when a charging station only contains 4 chargers.
