“Software and AI development is very different from traditional hardware-driven automotive development,” said Qasar Younis, Co-Founder and CEO of Applied Intuition. “Integrating and updating different software and AI components can be especially challenging, and that is where our expertise comes in as an AI-first software company.”

Porsche will use the solution along with software best practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes to deploy and manage software to future vehicles through an off-board platform. A professional set of tools supports the end-to-end software validation, ranging from software-in-the-loop (SIL) to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and vehicle testing. The collaboration with Applied Intuition has enabled Porsche to design the software of its future vehicles with specific customer solutions and integrates seamlessly into Porsches successful value-enhancing investments into technology.

This should help. Hope they don’t just focus on the future and figure out how to support a single code base so that the whole (especially electric vehicles users) customer base gets the value of a more modern software development lifecycle and methodology.

I don’t know. Applied Intuition (AI, you did get that, right?) is an ADAS/AD company. Porsche is not really about Automated Driving so I don’t know what value is that, although the ADAS (driver aids) (including self parking) definitely needs work.

CI should have been in place long ago. I’m not sure if this is saying Porsche/VW group needed to hire a company from Silicon Valley just to get this going. Seems like there must be a few DevOps people in Germany they could hire. The other part sounds interesting, if they plan to do OTA through an “off-board“ platform or what exactly that vague statement means.

i wish to say things but claim nothing and make sound like it’s meaningful without divulging any specifics. Announcements live this are 99.9999999% meaningless but are made to shore up the ego of the VP who made the meaningless stuff happen

This is really big news, and while it's just a press release, it could become a critical partner to fill a crucial hole in their strategy.

In my experience, car companies and large German SW companies are late adopters, and therefore, partnering makes sense.

Applied Intuition works with many big players, has serious Tech investors, and lists Porsche as their Strategic OEM partner.

It will be interesting to see how Apple plays in the Applied Intuition ecosystem. If they play well, Porsche's tech stack could be on par with Tesla's and even surpass that in a relatively short timeframe. I'm not talking about FSD, but mainly a modern software platform. As Andreson used to say, "Software is eating the world!"
