It wasn't clear whether they used launch control on the Taycan Turbo S. Even the video footage in the car have the third gauge covered by the steering wheel. It would not have changed the outcome with the 918, but also they never ran the Taycan against the 720S, maybe for a good reason. Much less embarrassment for McLaren losing to a 1.2 million pound car.

That was an amazing misspeaking from those guys, especially Tiff. You can see many point it out in the YouTube comments.
