Sadly I recon it’s the media and incorrect perceptions.
I’ve spoken to a fair few with ridiculous idea around BEV - including my mother, who said ‘I must be such a pain not being able to fill it up with fuel’ and ‘I bet it goes flat before the end of the lane’! Maddening!
I always find it interesting when companies sell products for a one-time purchase cost, but the product relies on cloud services, or external device support (eg smartphones). There rarely are commitments as to how long they will work for - and clearly no guarantees if the company goes bankrupt...
Shows the limitation is on current - most likely simply on the plug or just thickness of cables and connectors in the vehicle! Half the voltage, but same current equates to exactly half the charge rate compared to when the incoming feed is 800v.
I’d love a car with driving modes to match every scenario - everything from ‘silky smooth RollsRoyce mode’ to ‘tractor mode’ to ‘I’m in a rally mode’ to ‘accelerate and corner like an f1 car’, oh and ‘family in the car drive like a Ford Mondeo mode’
