Tesla sw may be ahead of the game but why is CarPlay not supported? Would be a deal breaker for me. On top of one pedal driving.
I hope Porsche will introduce farts soon though (currently I have to do everything myself and it distracts from driving)
Of course you can compare all you want, "they are not comparable" is a figure of speech. They are two very, very different objects. Yet, nobody is stopping you from comparing them even if the only things they have in common is that they are EV with 4 tyres. The Taycan is the closest you can get...
it always was.
Unfair comparison. the taycan is a sports car. the other democratised horsepower (you could not buy north of 800 hp without spending a lot more money), but not brakes, suspension and steering (which are crap).
And in fact, barroom gossip aside, nobody makes fast turns with the...
A bit harsh, come on ;). on the 992 tts the transmission is so much smoother and the power delivery as well vs past. the sw around dynamic boost does a good job if you lift, fuel injectors are shut off but throttle is still partially open. It's not an EV but turbos are spooled up significantly...
I have both, 992 tts and a new Taycan turbo CT, non-s, replacing the saloon with pdcc. Great driving dynamics for such a heavy thing.
However, the 992 composure and surgical approach on narrow alpine roads is unbeatable, with the exception of porsche GT products and the model s plaid ?.
There s only so much you can do for excessive weight. It will eventually catch up with you. In fact, at the Ring, sedans with half HP or so vs Plaid , from a few years back, have better lap times.
Also, the Plaid at the Ring behaves better than the stock car with track pack - not too hard to...
I see your point on the trims and agree they trims are differentiated by HP and 0-100 times (looking at the German website). But it's just the trims comparison. If you look at the top level Taycan page there s plenty of other marketing stuff, same if you download their media kit.
TBH English...
Many have pointed it out here - and it is also very clear on the Porsche website, which is not based on the 0-60, it is just one of many pieces of information - you buy the Taycan and pay a premium for a brand performance experience. From sportiness to comfort, ride setup, car design, interior...
On which marketing collateral? On website? No, It's not just acc from standstill. it's 3 different KPI for each trim (0-100 km/h, HP and top speed). Adverts? Nope. Media kit? It's not just 0-60 (more below).
0-60 is one of the indicators for the whole industry, and it fuels pub bragging rights...
Yes, Porsche's marketing is not based solely on acceleration at traffic lights.
I understand that it's fun (it's not that popular around here), but if that's one of the main drivers of choice, the Demon 170 costs even less than the plaid and also makes noise. Maybe the Taycan is not the right...
True, though I just bought a new Turbo CT and while trade-ins are hammered, you easily get >20% discounts on new models. Plaid s is today 116k Chf (plus you ll have to add ca 20k for the perf package, when available?)
In my opinion, it is misleading to compare two cars from different segments...
does it? sources? zperfs (https://zeperfs.com/duel9231-8797.htm) reports very similar results, with the Taycan turbo (non s) slightly better.
regardless, Plaid lacks refinement of driving dynamics, steering is vague, Torque V is far from nuanced, etc. if one wants a muscle car why not the srt...
good for them and those with a Challenger SRT Demon 170. Until a few seconds later in Europe, when there are a few real bends (even on the autobahn) and the Plaid's standard brakes provide a different kind of last-rites thrill
Ugly, no visual identity based on a consistent design language outside and inside (e.g. lambo style switches, mercedes dials, etc) ugh. What a contrast to the Lotus evija...
Very good suggestion indeed to rent in Zurich from Porsche. I did not know it was possible (in op case he may just need an international driving license).
I often drive to Dolomites from Zurich. I really advise to take the highway to Landquart, head towards Davos to Flüelapass (or bypassing it...
Cortina is definitely a top destination, views, food etc. on the posh side (not as extreme as, say, Gstaad in Switzerland). 3 nights should be enough if you don't go hiking or climbing. Late August the area is still very busy so early booking of hotels and restaurants is highly advised. Also if...
Nice idea, indeed. I know the Sud Tyrol area in Dolomites quite well.
Routes/Spots, they are all equally impressive: Venice to Cortina (2,5h travel time), Pordoi Pass (and area around it), Selva di Valgardena and surroundings, Ortisei, Tires, Bozen. A *lot* of twisty roads and switch blades...
I agree. Some cars happen to have fascinating performances beyond straight lines. Put a plaid (or a Lucid?) in a hillclimb competition of sort and their brakes and suspensions will work wonders, maybe...
A more than good driver did 7:30:9 at Nordschleife with a stock plaid (though brakes look...
GT4RS is tip top. No doubt. The Emira looks gorgeous but is same weight at 1400+ kg and -100 hp. Also it’s a fully new model and I would have some concern about reliability (I am not a Lotus expert though). I had the 991.2 GT3RS, sooo much fun. I don’t think the cayman will be much different. :)
Yes Luis Ramirez did 7:44 on (wet) Ring with heavy mods/upgrades to its suspension, brakes, wheels and tires (they run Cup2 I think), i.e. the ugly bits. So it can't be official (it's far from a stock car, which is above 8 mins). Charoudin, one of the Ring's veteran who lives in front, also had...
