Nipri, not to get off topic but I also have an 8-Pace and completely agree. It’s in some ways as much fun to drive as the Taycan. Less surgical but great feel. And not to mention the fact that once when a car was sliding at me from the opposite direction on a narrow road at 50 mph I went up a 35...
I also own both the i8 roadster and the Taycan. Others have said it perfectly above, these are two very different beasts and honestly not comparable.
In someways, between all my various cars, I would have to say if I had to keep only one it would be the i8. Not because it’s the fastest, nor is...
I was waiting for this car when I bought the Taycan. I’m more an Audi guy than Porsche. Or I should say was. the two cars were developed together and Porsche got to release first and keep the top performance. That’s why they are so similar.
Now after waiting and having seen the design language...
Part of the need for fixed mechanical controls is that our brains tend to develop what’s called muscle memory. Certain functions we do not want to have to shift our attention and go through pages or screens to adjust. It actually may be dangerous.
so about of some heart controls with displays...
Great points on this thread. One of my main reasons I never bought any performance Tesla is that full power meant the front of the car lifted way too much. I do not see this in my Jaguar nor in the Taycan (nor in any ICE performance car). To me that means the car manufacturer is SERIOUS about...
Thanks, I'll take some slight offense at this offhand remark after taking time to try to explain my thoughts. I mean a basic dismissal of opinion by throwing around the work "fanboy" is definitely a much more worthwhile exploration of the topic.
I want to add one other observation. Ignoring the "one shot" acceleration spec, when I configure the Plaid, there is NO WAY that in my mind this car is worth $156k. The interior is "ok" but looks kid racer with carbon fiber detailing. Granted it is a matter of taste but I don't get any choice, I...
But that’s the point, they are just numbers. Tesla has the numbers, but go ahead and drive one and see what the “total experience” is. Even the M3P which is the “best” is still nothing like a real sports car, in terms of feel, performance, details and fitness. The Taycan has all the refinement...
Also remember Taycan has 2 speed gearbox, and the other cars have, well, more. At some point the electric motor runs out. But still the 2 speed does a lot for the car vs having to have one fixed gear ratio. But that was something to watch, I didn’t even care the Taycan got beat by a tiny amount...
I think they made a perfectly fine decision which has to do with “constant” behaviour regardless of state of charge and maintaining “normal” driving characteristics. I am perfectly fine with it. My point simply is it is very easy to provide an “alternate” mode we can turn on if we prefer.
Well this really isn’t an issue, because regen doesn’t have to be FULL regen. Like the I-Pace, it will provide the first 50KW of regen from lifting the accelerator, and the rest comes in as you touch the brakes. Yes its a blended break I understand, but so is the Taycan. So the setting could...
I don’t understand why all electric cars just don’t let you set a driver mode that you either “coast” or “drive” one pedal and a regen setting. The Leaf has it, the Bolt has it, I-Pace allows a version of it (but not full regen with one pedal, just high and low with high being only 30% of the...
