@daveo4EV's race prep shop went over an early Plaid and noted it was virtually a completely different car underneath.
Still, by the looks of the video, it understeers massively. Tires? Alignment? Taycan much more composed.
Im really not understanding your point. I’m trying to. You said “I remember when Porsche used to pound around the ring to test”. They still do. You said “this lap record chasing is going to get someone killed”. But it’s not all that unsafe, compared to any other high speed motor event...
Huh? All the manufacturers still do this. And when records are set, the track is cleared and all the marshals are there. Far more likely to have a serious issue during TF where some wanker blows coolant or oil all over the track, or some idiot won’t get out of the way of a faster car.
all these...
The result was certified by the Nurburgring. That wouldn’t have happened with the mods Jalopnik claimed. Moreover, Misha Charoudin from Apex would have likely called it out too.
40 runs in one evening. Still does 2.33 on the street at 20%
battery overheating is not an issue.
Look, the Taycan pulls power too. Just ask @daveo4EV how long he got out of a session at Laguna on his Turbo before it cut power? Hint, it wasn’t a full 20 minute section.
plemty to give...
The Plaid does not suffer the same degradation.
I have seen multiple Dragy runs at 2.3 seconds to 60 just flooring it.
There are many things to say bad about the Plaid. The speed is not one of them.
Yeah, that's not really accurate though.
1. From many other videos I've seen, generally this mode doesn't take that long to enter. Usually less than 3 mintues.
2. Entering this mode usually only gains you maybe 1 to 2 tenths. That's really it. If you just floor it off the line without...
As someone who owns a diesel Porsche, I would like to remind you that Telsa has not (yet) been forced into a consent decree for knowingly violating federal laws and been fined over $4 billion. Just saying. ;)
I really hope that NHTSA cracks down on them for this ridiculousness that is "Full"...
LOL, this has got to be one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever read. "I'm sorry you found out this way"? Do you really believe what you wrote? If you really believe that those of us who have positive things to say about Tesla are in denial, making up excuses, and that people talk...
Uh, not sure about the kids in your area, but I routinely get a thumbs up and a "cool car, mister" from kids about 15 on down when driving my Tesla. On the off chance I pick up one of the kids at school, guaranteed there are 2-3 likes as I drive by. This despite the fact that Teslas are very...
As someone who used to have EAP on a Tesla (which is pretty much what anyone with AutoPilot still has unless you're on the FSD City Streets Beta), I can tell you that a driver's aid is only as good as it makes you trust it.
Navigate On Autopilot, quite frankly, SUCKED. Lane changes either...
I'd make the argument that you are proving the point of those who want autonomous driving to happen. So many people are forced to drive when they'd rather not, and paying that amount of attention. So why not ferry them someplace safely?
I would advise ANYONE that is remotely interested in really learning the state of Autonomous driving to actually go onto the SAE website, sign up for a free account, and download the J3016 definition. The article you linked actually does a good job of breaking things down, and also uses the...
