There are too many cars to list that could be considered competitors in this space.
BMW 5/7/8
Audi A6/A7/A8
MB E/S/CLS
Jaguar
Lexus
Maserati
Panamera / Taycan
Model S
There is a huge variety of luxury, performance, size, etc.
Each price point changes the equation as well. At the base level...
I don't think the comparison to Fisker is valid. Fisker had around 100 employees, relied an a battery startup A123 (which eventually went bankrupt) and borrowed a lot of their design from other automakers (particularly GM). In addition they didn't have a lot of financial backing.
Lucid has...
I just realized that the base wheels that come with the Model S and Model Y have hub caps. They use decorative covers instead of actually casting/forging the wheel design.
A $90k sedan with hub caps.
Most of the Tesla fanboys started with the attitude of promoting all EV's regardless of brand. Tesla just happened to be the most exciting back in 2012-2015. But now that real competition is hitting the market, they have turned from supporting all EV's, to only supporting Tesla, regardless of...
I like Lucid, and I'm considering an Air Grand Touring, but I'm still really skeptical that it handles better than the Taycan. I'm sure it's faster in the straight line, and probably has an equally nice interior, but getting a car to feel the way a Porsche does is a really difficult task...
i thought that too originally. But now that more details are out along with some early reviews I think they are going after Tesla, BMW, and Audi. Porsche will be out on its own with the Taycan (best driving) and Mercedes with the EQS (most luxurious). Lucid seems to be hitting a sweet spot of...
I agree with all of the comments on the exterior. However, I need to see one in person for the final judgement.
On the interior I'm surprised by the general dislike. I honestly think the interior is very similar to the Taycan. Maybe even a bit more attractive. My guess is the user interface...
I haven't seen one in person. Looking forward to it.
The Taycan is still, by far, the best looking EV, and will probably be the best driving for a while. But again for the price, the technology, range, and GTR like performance, make the Air Grand Touring a very interesting option.
I'll admit, I'm very interested. I have a reservation for a Air Grand Touring (800hp and 500+ miles of range). In theory this would be faster and more luxurious than the Taycan, way better range and tech, but might not live up to the Porsche driving experience. However, as stated in the article...
Making hydrogen from natural gas is terribly inefficient and contributes more to GHG emissions than simply burning natural gas. Steam reforming natural gas to hydrogen takes a tremendous amount of heat (by burning natural gas as the energy source). To make hydrogen cleanly, you need renewable...
Looks like someone took their Plaid to the track.

Brakes. I tried my very hardest to lay off the brakes as much as I could and I still got the system is hot warning on the dash within a couple laps. I...
So new rotors and pads? The pictures from the car look like new calipers as well. Possibly carbon ceramic rotors. That's the beauty with testing a non-factory configured car, you can change anything you want. I will wait to see how a completely stock Model S Plaid performs. I welcome reports...
I don't mind the delays as long as they deliver a quality product. I don't want a Beta product to be shipped as a final product just to meet an arbitrary time line. Launching a completely new vehicle from an automotive startup on time is next to impossible. Even legacy automakers and Tesla can't...
I'm sure this was posted on the forum already, but the initial tests of the Rimac Nevera are mind boggling. Four motors, totaling almost 1900hp. When you break it down, the front motors only have 295hp each, and the rear each have 644hp. So while this car costs $2M, it's not a stretch to think...
It will be interesting to see if the 0-60 phenomenon with EV's is temporary.
Does the initial wave of EV's continue with absurd 0-60 times and horsepower? Where does this end? 2500hp sedans running around town? 3000hp Hummer EV pickups?
Rivian is about to release a pickup and three-row SUV...
Based on the comments about the brakes (way under sized for the weight and speeds), wait until a couple of Plaid owners head to a road track and cook the brakes after a couple of laps and end up in a barrier.
Years ago my brother put a supercharger on his Mustang Cobra. We went to a track day...
Not exactly a great roll out.
"Tesla buyers who ordered the new Model S are circulating a letter to ask for better communications around Model S deliveries, which are currently quite messy, for a lack of a better word."...
The wait time is 8-9 months due to supply and quality issues. They have already put several holds on new deliveries. If you go to the Tesla forum there are people who made reservations when the refreshed Model S was announced, and they are looking at deliveries late this year. It hasn't been a...
