Thanks for sharing. I'm with you on your interpretation, though as usual with this sort of stats summary, I'm left wanting more detail and an explanation of the methodology. From a quick google for the source S&P data, I've only found an overview of the May'21-'22 results, which show Porsche...
Expensive watches are not my thing, but I assume they hold their value much better than cheaper ones, so the cost of ownership isn't as high as it might at first seem?
The same might apply to more specialist cars- certainly the lower volume Porsche models.
But I think that the more...
And the issue for Porsche is, in the case of straight-line performance, if they can significantly ramp it up, so can everybody else. (But maybe, as the EV revolution really gets going, the prospect of "dangerously unusable" and "energy-wasting" acceleration becoming the norm could prompt...
Porsche's Electric Sport Sound (and dealers promotion of it) did nothing to reassure me that the Taycan was a well-honed performance EV contender.
True. I also think that anyone with an interest in cars and an open mind now has access to much of the information necessary to make an informed...
I hope for Porsche's sake they are taking potential EV rivals seriously. Yes, the badge is worth something and stands for something, but everyone puts their own values to those things. I assume that to many people, the Taycan is the better car...but what premium are the prepared to pay for it?
I'm not a fan of the styling- I'd prefer a performance version of the Ioniq 5 (nostalgia for my Integrale). But in general, it takes my heart rather than my head to leave me content with my choice of Taycan v the EV6 GT. If I hadn't already (unwittingly) done so, the availability of cars...
Thought it might be of interest here as it's no less reasonable a Taycan alternative than some of the others considered on the forum.
(I couldn't find a thread specifically for the GT variant)
[edit- oops, deleted old video from pre launch]
Though the Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne are close in external width, the Taycan cabin tapering to the rear makes it significantly the least wide across the rear seats (not that I've taken a tape measure to them all).
I can see that there is a market (even if in UK it's less practical- but now we're even seeing more oversize pickups / Taliban taxis that make Range Rovers look handy)...but I don't think it's a good fit with Porsche's sporting attributes. Maybe similar words to those were uttered when the...
Much as I appreciated my Cayenne, an SUV “wider and larger than the Cayenne” does not sound a practical proposition for many British roads and parking spaces.
Reminds me of the original Merc CLS. Folks who insist that all EVs will be much of a muchness will feel validated by some of the "Taycan versus..." suggestions around here.
I have the current, brilliantly versatile and capable, Cayenne E-hybrid. When I had it serviced I took the opportunity, just out of curiosity, to try the newly arrived Taycan 4S CT demonstrator, which has marginally better performance on paper (and significantly less utility). An hour in...
Most notably, the "Ferdinand" aka "Elefant" Tank Destroyer (based on the unsuccessful Porsche candidate for the Tiger requirement), had an electric drivetrain, powered by 2 petrol engines driving generators.
Plus collision impacts will also be much higher energy due to the extra weight of batteries.
There might be a tipping point where the enthusiasm for promoting EV's green credentials becomes tempered with realisation that excessive amounts of energy get expended delivering "unnecessary"...
Strictly for my own solitary amusement, I play a variety of guitars and basses, and create music in my home studio (centred on a Windows PC and digital music hardware and software all from around the turn of the century- too much hassle to modernise, but has become a challenge to keep it all...
Thanks for mentioning this. I've had 4 vaccines now and wasn't aware of experiencing any side effects...BUT keeping an open mind, I did a quick Google and can see some reputable sources suggesting possible correlation and I've given myself some homework learning about the Vestibular System...
I commend your persistence with subjecting yourself to the effects for so long, I'm thankful that I've only had problems in recent years (or maybe I've just not experienced linear acceleration of such strength).
