You are right. I also drove the iX for a week, and the self driving features were not as good as in my EQA. However, BMW improved the system in the new i5 as what I saw here:
The self driving features are way way better in the new BMW (at least in Germany) as well as the range. I would buy it, even though it looks kind of uninspiring.
I find Porsche just not innovative enough. Since the Taycan came out years ago, there is nothing new, besides a prototype e-fuel...
Actually you really talk nonsense, since in 2016 BYD hired Wolfgang Egger as their new head of design. He previously worked for and designed this baby:
The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
I remember the BYD ICE cars 10/15 years ago. They indeed looked like junk. But the new EVs are not anymore. Their design is Chinese, but the quality is not far off from VW or Toyota.
Every market has a solid amount of customers which are very price sensitive and EVs in Europe (I guess in the US, too) are insanly overpriced compared to their ICE equivialent. So if you don't have much money, but really want an EV with a new battery, the Chinese option is attractive...
The problem with Chinese cars are the warning sounds of all kind of systems in the cars. Some of the sounds are simply ugly (indicator sound of the Zeekr 001) many other warning sounds are frequent, over the top, unnessary, not possible to switch off permanently. For example:
The self driving...
Their imports are irrelevant, way too expensive for what you get. They only sell 3 and Y in volume our of Shanghai factory.
The volume brands on the roads in south China are BYD and AION (GAC (Joint venture of Toyota and Honda)) and Geely. Then there are other joint venture partners of German...
Gosh, where to start? I recently sat in one in a showroom.
seat too low, cannot adjust to sit comfortably
boring interior
endless anoying alarms of all the gadget tech stuff
quality on VW level
way too much copied from T junk
expensive with battery purchase
Therefore: overhyped and overpriced...
Unfortunately, not all manufactures got the message!
The facelifted EQA now also gets the touch fiddle steering wheel. Lucky I just got the older version.
You compare a short range restricted thumb with 3 long flexible fingers? Are you sure, you are not just another dumb T junk fanboy unable to think outside the bubble for the lack of owning a real EV?
I have now owned in the past 8 years: MS90D, Roewe EV and still have Taycan 4S+, Zeekr 001...
I think so.
Like the new battery tech for airplanes, I guess. But that's the way to improve the tech. Wasn't the whole point of motor sport to figure out the limits of tech way faster than what you can do in a large manufacturer setting?
Interesting, indeed! Even if it has not application for...
Do you think they can ever compete with Toyota and VW, Ford on the lower end? That is a total dead end!
On the higher end, sure there are always a few crazy people waste their money, but for how long can they be cheated if there is so much better out there?
So what is left?
I got a new EQA...
Another T junk thread, really?
What I see in Europe and particularly in China: Nobody gives a rats ass about the T junk anymore. Way too expensive for a naked interior with terrible usability and horrendous quality and reliability.
Saturady night on our last longer trip with our MS90D junk...
WOW!!!
Two months ago, I bought a Zeekr 001 with a 140 kWh battery and easy 700km of range for 52k Euro. With headup display, better software, much more space inside and in the trunk than my previous MS90D. Overall quality is Volvo level, and much better interior trims exceeding my brand new...
