That's exactly why I leased my Taycan so I can move on if there is a better EV on the market in 2023 for the same money (maybe Plaid) or a cheaper one that offers similar performance and handling as the Taycan for less coing (maybe BMW i4 m50 or e-tron gt). If Taycan i still the best I can...
According to the US specs the 4S with the big battery is 4947 lbs.
https://www.porsche.com/usa/models/taycan/taycan-models/taycan-4s/
I haven't found an official weight spec for the i5 M50. Where did you see that number?
Shorter wheelbase corners better and it has a smaller turning radius...
I am glad to see more EV alternatives. There are a few things I personally like in the i4:
- physical buttons for climate control
- standard ( not retractable) door handles
- 7 inches shorter than the taycan. This together with slightly smaller battery should make the car lighter.
- trunk door...
If you search Amazon for "nema 14-30 to 14-50 adapter" you will find generic adapters for ~$30.
If you want an OEM supply cable I suggest you first ask an Audi dealer since the etron charger is identical to Porsche's. Audi usually sells the same part number cheaper than Porsche.
Don't forget to...
So we should not complain when the Taycan stalls while driving (alleged bug introduced in latest update) or when it bricks while charging because someone hacked into a Tesla?
I am certainly not a Tesla fanboy but when I read the article I also noticed they already fixed the vulnerability with...
I considered 2022 BMW M550i (523 hp) which is about the same size and body style as the Taycan and has about the same acceleration as the 4S.
The Taycan throttle response is certainly faster but when the M550i was on high revs it was pulling harder. Handling is about the same but the Taycan is...
I just saw that EQS length will be 205 inches!!! That is almost 10 inches longer than the Taycan which is already a big sedan.
There is no way the EQS will drive anywhere close to the Taycan with such a long wheelbase even if they do miracles in suspension tuning.
I am not sure what suspension the EQS will have but the latest MB air suspension in the E and GLE upper trims is very good and very close to Porsche's suspension.
As for the futuristic look, I personally think it sacrifices functionality for the looks. The review says that the capacitative...
I was browsing the Mach-e forum for early impressions and I saw a long list of reported issues that look very familiar to Taycan's i.e. 12v battery, infotainment software bugs, connectivity issues, charging issues, etc etc. Here is a list compiled by a forum member...
I would wait for the "big software update" to become available in the US in hopefully next 3 weeks to be able to tell what will be the differences of 2020 vs 2021.
There is a speculation that the software update will bring the 2021 features in 2020 models so the difference might be small if...
This doesn't work all the times. It seems I am hitting some bug/edge case that the software does not cover well. The problem is not mechanical, it is in the algorithm that controls the handles. It happens when the car stays unlocked for long enough and handles retract, then sometimes it takes...
My daily problem with the handles is by the time I buckled my kid to the rear seat, the driver handle has retracted and it does not extend as I approach it. I have to put my finger under the handle and wait, sometimes even retry a few times. I wouldn't have this problem with normal handles. It...
Taycan looks better but e-tron has 3 big (in my opinion) advantages compared to Taycan:
- Physical buttons for climate settings
- Physical button to open the frunk (video at 10:14) (this is so nice when your 12v battery is dead)
- Normal door handles that don't retract.
The article describes driving aids and software tech (like carplay) in the Technology section, not mechanical. So I think Tesla is a clear winner there.
Mechanically Taycan is a clear winner, but that probably falls under the Driving Experience.
