Well, this IS a Porsche forum after all, LOL. Not surprised this group would be averse to this.it appears that a lot of the comments against this idea are from CA residents.
which begs the question, how do these politicians who implement so many wackadoodle laws in CA remain in office?
Did they not see Terminator? I learned that it is not good for computers to become "intelligent". ;-)Correct.
But the warning occurs each time the speed limit plus 10 mph threshold is exceeded.

SECTION 1. Article 19 (commencing with Section 28170) is added to Chapter 5 of Division 12 of the Vehicle Code, to read:Article 19. Speed Assistance Technology28170. (a) As used in this article, “passive intelligent speed assistance system” means an integrated vehicle system that uses, at minimum, the GPS location of the vehicle compared with a database of posted speed limits, to determine the speed limit, and utilizes a brief, one-time visual and audio signal to alert the driver each time they exceed the speed limit by more than 10 miles per hour.(b) If an intelligent speed assistance system receives conflicting speed limits for the same area, the system shall utilize the higher speed limit.28171. (a) Commencing with the 2029 model year, 50 percent of passenger vehicles, motortrucks, and buses manufactured or sold in the state shall be equipped with a passive intelligent speed assistance system.(b) Commencing with the 2032 model year, every passenger vehicle, motortruck, and bus manufactured or sold in the state shall be equipped with a passive intelligent speed assistance system.(c) A passive intelligent speed assistance system shall be capable of being fully disabled by the manufacturer or a franchisee, but only as provided in Section 28172.28172.
