That review nails it.
And how is a V8 Cayenne worth 50k more than a V6 one?
Volume SUV sales reusing VW group parts made Porsche profitable. Their pricing model now doesn’t seem competitive. They no longer seem to have a volume seller.
I’ve driven base ICE and EV Macans as loaners. I thought they were both very cheaply finished, unremarkable and poor value. The EV had a very lumpy ride. A better specced Macan EV would be in demo Taycan 1.2 price territory - no contest.
All subjective of course.
Anyone here have any MHEV/PHEV hybrid range experience?
Currently on a road trip in the US, in a Grand Cherokee Plug in. Most of the hire SUVs here seem to be PHEVs. Although it had zero charge when picked up, in the first 150 miles, the Dashboard alleges that 43 of the first 150 miles were on...
@ZenicaNC
I agree with your other points of principle, but I wouldn’t be bothered about any authority eavesdropping on my boring life!
Regardless of likelihood, commands affecting operation sent to the vehicle should any hostilities break out would have the biggest impact!
But any party with...
What you’ve said seems to be applicable to China but not elsewhere.
China manufacturers and sells more EVs than the rest of the world put together. European and US EV manufacturers have a monopoly on expertise, safe repair and parts supply. The costs you quote are not available outside China...
His comments about China are at odds with the sales numbers there for other manufacturers.
Perhaps Porsche suffered from having only one high end BEV.

The next 5 years will be unsettled.
I don’t know profit by model, but by volume, Porsche SUVs are their biggest sellers. A well used line is that tweaked and rebadged VWs/Audis sustain the Porsche brand. Resistance to the Macan and Cayenne transition to EV and residual prospects for those new...
The UK ZEV legislation means that 22% of Porsche sales this year must be EVs, or fines will be levied.
Up to October their figure was 20%. Close.
Subject to November figures, this could result in good deals in December for new registrations, demos being registered to meet the target, and price...
From New Automotive, a global analysis of sales in October and the preceding 12 months.
- BEV registrations in China are bigger than the rest of the world put together.
- Petrol and diesel sales are down 15%.
The PDF attached has the full report.
The drop in UK manufacturing has something to do with EVs, but only in the last few years.
Germany’s car production has fallen by about one third since 2016. Again, not all due to EVs.
Governments bear some responsibility for decreased tax revenues, but not all.
None of this is all about EVs...
The official Porsche UK site has no new in stock, demo or used Macan EVs advertised for sale.
The autotrader.co.uk site has 37 dealer adverts, some saying multiple others are also available for immediate delivery.
The official Porsche UK site has 295 new in stock, demo or used Taycan J2s...
To be fair he didn’t spend much time criticising the Macan EV towing capability affect on range. And Porsche sell the Macan EV tow hook for up to 2 tons as well as for bike racks.
But he did not mention that an ICE car towing a trailer would also increase consumption by 33-50%. The Macan EV has...
Are you certain he said all that?
He’s definitely a fan of 4WS. I recall him saying once experienced, you’ll never want to be without it.
But he is definitely not a fan of Active Lane Assist requiring multiple actions to turn it off each trip - compulsory from 2024. Ok on a nice straight and...
