  1. Taycan efficiency vs VW ID7 … can it be true?

I can't speak about the ID.7, but it is clear that the Taycan drivetrains is very inefficient. The Cw value is low, so we cannot blame bad aerodynamics. Somehow the motor and invertor are not well engineered. Maybe it is the stupid 2-spead gearbox ? Hopefully Porsche improves this for the new...
  2. my Taycan vs my 911

I like your bold choice of car colors !
  3. 🔋 Baseline for HV Battery SoH Performance (Battery Degradation Data by Taycan Owners)

Could you ask your dealer how much it would cost to replace a module out of warranty ?
  4. [Perspective] - A happy Taycan owner road trip’s his Daughter’s Model Y…

I have a Taycan and I had a Tesla. I am very happy with my Taycan. But I would strongly recommend Tesla to new buyers. If you just look at the facts: It is just so much value for money compared to other cars, I don't understand why anybody is still buying new +40k euro ICE cars. (In Belgium at...
  5. 🔋 Baseline for HV Battery SoH Performance (Battery Degradation Data by Taycan Owners)

This website says that the average soh after 1.5 years (the age of my Taycan) is 97%. My Taycan is at 91%. Does that mean that the Taycan (or my taycan) battery degradation is far worse than the average in the industry ?
  6. 🔋 Baseline for HV Battery SoH Performance (Battery Degradation Data by Taycan Owners)

Isn't the Taycan going extremely fast from 100% to 95% SoH ? From the info I read for Tesla's that takes about a year. With the Taycan it goes to ±95% in the first months. I wonder if the 100% level in this soh reading is a good reference point. Are most Taycan's really delivered with 100% ...
  7. "Needed: Car experts to fend off grid disaster" - Article

It has been proven several times that the grid only needs a 10% to 20% upgrade because charging happens mostly at night when there is enough grid capacity. A 20% upgrade over a period of 20 years, is no problem at all. Plus, people adapt. That is what humans do. This is not a static system...
  8. BMW i5

Shared. And although the front is almost empty, BMW did not add a frunk. So they didn't do a lot of effort of trying to get the typical EV advantages developed. In 2023 I'd prefer a dedicated EV platform.
  9. 🔋 Baseline for HV Battery SoH Performance (Battery Degradation Data by Taycan Owners)

Taycan RWD Feb/2022. -december 2022: no fast charging, ±10000km : 95% SOH -april 2023: 6 times fast charging, ±15000km : 90.93% SOH Looks like fast charging has a big impact. I am going to check it every quarter to track it in time.
  10. From Audi RS e-tron GT to Taycan GTS ST

Both the audi and Taycan are nice. But the audi in grey is just plain boring. Take the audi in red and it looks completely different. I like your Taycan color choice !
  11. 🔋 Baseline for HV Battery SoH Performance (Battery Degradation Data by Taycan Owners)

RWD Taycan. Location: Belgium 1) unknown 2) 95,38% 3) 8200km 4) 0 kwh (did not do any DC fast charging yet) 5) january 2022 Thanks for collecting this data. Very interesting.
  12. Protest at Porsche Showroom

In 2021 Porsche sold more EV's than Dacia. (=Dacia is a low budget brand of Renault). They should have glued themselves to the floor of a Dacia dealer. I believe it would help if right-wing climate supporters (like myself) would be more vocal. Now the whole idea of not polluting the planet is...
  13. Taycan v Kia EV6 GT

Very nice car. With extreme performance. And good tech (800V, very fast charging).
  14. My solution - visiting Europe - how to get a rental car that doesn't suck…

The charging network in Europe should be better than in the US. We will phase out ICE cars faster than the US. No ICE cars in many cities in 2030. No ICE cars sold in 2035. I understood it will not go that fast in the US. I did not see it myself but in the media it looks like China is also...
  15. Are we helping in the fight against climate change or just indulging our love of toys (er technology)?

Since you have a battery in your car, there is no need to carry the solar panels with you. You can install the solar panels on the roof of your house. I work from home every other day, so I have time to recharge the car during the day when the sun is shining.
  16. Are we helping in the fight against climate change or just indulging our love of toys (er technology)?

Combine your Taycan with a roof full of solar panels + home battery. Depending on your climate and how much you drive, you should be able to drive 100% clean 8 to 12 months per year.
  17. EU mandating installing speed tracking hardware in all new cars (Autoblog)

EU is clearly moving into the direction of very strong government control like in China. USA is not that much better. They just are better in hiding it. (IRS, NSA,....)
