  1. [Perspective] - A happy Taycan owner road trip’s his Daughter’s Model Y…

All of this x100. You just don’t know until you’ve owned both Tesla and CCS cars.
  2. Anyone going back to a Tesla?

Seriously considered a Taycan several times over the past two years, never owned one though numerous other EVs. I went back to gas, it that counts? I’ll be back in an EV when the kinks are worked out.
  3. Porsche 718 Boxster convertible EV spotted charging at 170kw rate

Really is special, just like this e-718 will likely be. The world of EVs is getting a lot more interesting : ) 170 kW to the Boxster seems excellent, btw, for what will likely be a relatively small and light battery.
  4. Will you test drive the Mercedes EQS?

I was not too impressed with my test drive of the EQS sedan. It had a level of quietness that is initially impressive, but overall it lacked the cosseting feeling of an S-Class. It felt more like a tech product than an ultra luxury experience. The EQ brand will be dropped by 2024 (C&D), so it...
  5. Thinking of going back to ICE

I say that about every new car that I buy. ?
  6. Do you have other EV's?

Embarrassed!? I would be proud to have a car that lasted 18 years, and also looked as good as that! If you bring it to Austin and want to do a comparo with the SE, just let me know. :D
  7. Do you have other EV's?

Do you have a production number? You should be able to track the progress, then there is a number you can call for the carrier assignment. The insideevs forum has a post on tracking where you can find average wait times for your port and city. AFAIK the dealers are kind of in the dark. They've...
  8. Ford Lightning

Not a “versus” post obviously but I am interested in hearing from Taycan + Lightning owners. I drove one and was quite impressed by the comfort and quiet. Curious to hear opinions after living with the vehicle. How does it fare for long road trips? Would you take it over your Taycan on the...
  9. Glad to be done with Porsche and Taycan

I’m seeing 400 miles range at 70 mph and 31 minute 10-80% charge (inside EVs) for the EQS and 305 miles, 21 minute 10-80% for the Taycan.
  10. Glad to be done with Porsche and Taycan

EQS is ugly (not as bad in person), but as a long time EV owner I believe it’s the best option among premium and luxury EVs. Hands down the best ride, NVH on par with a RR, and arguably the best software too. Range is among the longest available. Lastly the trip planner is up there with Tesla...
  11. Traded Taycan 4 CT for EQS 450 4Matic SUV

Glad to hear you’re enjoying it so far. I’ve experienced modern Mercs and the software touches are quite nice. I really liked the feature that subtly adjusts the seat position points over time to keep you more relaxed. Have you tried the trip planner? Apparently it’s at least as good as Tesla’s...
  12. Traded Taycan 4 CT for EQS 450 4Matic SUV

Probably a good call. At this point I’m set on EQS/EQE out of all of the EV sedans. The ride and NVH are on another level. That’s what they do best. Software is also fantastic. In spite of the exterior design it’s an easy decision.
  13. Man discovers $80K truck takes 4 days to charge at home - Links

Auto “journalist” can’t even mention the amperage of his level 2 charger. Granted a lot of auto journalists are clueless about this stuff, but they definitely know better at TFL. The car charges at 19 kW on AC. If you’re getting an EV hummer and plan on driving 300 miles every single day, just...
