A bit of a story on how I got from M5 to Taycan GTS... I too had an M5 on my bucket list. When I was at that stage, the E60 M5 was the current model - the V10 was glorious (150 miles per tank!!). I even learned to love the SMG! Though, it did take me a couple months to get my head around it...

Seiko 5 would be an awesome choice. G-Shocks are truly bullet proof too. Depends on the look he wants, but for price and quality you couldn't go wrong with either.
