In general most dealerships, regardless off brand, will answer this when asked about installation of non-oem equipment in their cars. However in this particular instance (audio upgrades) the chances that a well-reputable installer is able to fudge anything up when doing such an upgrade are VERY...
I wouldnt rule out all other good/better brands because someone else has used a particular setup before though. A lot has changed in this particular field the last few years and there are now a lot of other brands that offer the same and/or better solutions.
I for one, would have a long chat...
Knowing this business...in my country... Any well-reputable shop should be able to get you a decent setup that fits your budget and demands. Personally i would then tend to favor wellknown speaker/amp brands.
Good catch! :D My bad...off course that would mean it probably started production week 8 and was finished in week 9. And off course that would make the week 7 cutoff prediction...entirely correct :)
Ahh....Thanks for the update... Then at least for current Euro-models the identifiers seems to be the "BB"-ending in the partnumber of the main unit, the 3776 SW version...and that is...if one already haven't noticed the bright colors in the GUI itself! :D
Agreed :) Now looking at the partnumers, and taking revisions into account. I'm also inclined to believe that...at least...the 2022 models will get the software update sometime soon.
Three weeks...should go by quite fast :)
I just received my car....and...although my VIN-number stated that my car had the PAD mainunit. After checking in the PCM settings menu...it states that the system has a 9J1 035 070 AG mainunit!
This probaly means that the whole PAD partnumber-thing is irrelevant. Atleast in regards to it being...
Ahh... understood. I have seen this from time to time indeed, but not very common on infotainment-related parts where i mostly work. Not sure what this means...or why they do this.
My initial thoughs was also that the PAD was a sign that they somehow would try to cordinate the partnumbers or something...but now I'm not so sure....
Also i beleive the 1K0 907 951 is not a generic partnumber. The first three digits indicates it as having been used first on the (1K) VW Golf...
Thats actually the first thing i checked when i came across the PAD partnumber... But it turns out the Audi e-tron GT stil has not received an updated partnumer. So...seemingly hasnt received any significant hardware refresh. But just to confirm your thinking....many brackets and other parts on...
As long as you have the VIN-number, it will work on any parts-catalogue system that supports Porsche, and off course that supports partnumber searches based on VIN-numbers.
I personally use Partslink24.com, that is subscription based, but i suspect there are many alternatives out there for this...
My car, that finished product on January 24th, is confirmed to have the PAD 035 070 main unit. And that would, as i interpret it, contradict the Feb 24th cut off date, IF that is refering to the hardware.
It's more likely we are dealing with an hardware change that has occured in the last...
Here are the PCM mainunit partnumbers for the US and Eurospec Taycans:
2020-2021
9J1 035 070 - Euro with Digital Radio (DAB)
9J1 035 084 - Euro without Digital Radio (DAB)
9J1 035 092 - US with Digital Radio (SatRadio)
9J1 035 136 - US without Digital Radio (SatRadio)
2022
PAD 035 070 - Euro...
Hmmm...that was not what i was expecting.
Another thing to check would be software versions on both the "older" 9J1 systems, and then to compare it to the software versions of the "new" PAD systems. So...we can establish if they are on the same software platform...or not.
So...if a number of...
