Regarding the update on the PMCC to charge at default at 50%, isn’t the issue the power cord adapter from the PMCC to the wall outlet that overheats?
I believe the wire gauge is too small/thin and should have been thicker (maybe a 4 awg or 6 awg)? I think it’s a 10 awg? I’m too lazy to go...
This is exactly why I went with a 14-50R outlet. I have 3 Porsche Mobile Charge Connects in my garage.
1) Outlet one = 2 AWG-> Safety Disconnect-> 4 AWG -> 14-50R
2) Outlet two = 4 AWG-> Safety Disconnect-> 4 AWG-> 14-50R
3) Outlet three = standard household outlet (this takes like 48 hours to...
Great to have more options and finally reasonably priced (including the plastic dock).
If I did it again, I'd still opt for the PMCC + Docking Station because I like the flexibility of having it not hardwired with a 14-50 outlet.
My other locations will be the docking station + PMCC on a...
Exactly - this makes it easy for me to upgrade in the future.
I figure I give the PMCC a chance and then if not, I will upgrade the safety switch to 100 amp rated and can use a #3 AWG wire down hardwire the next EV charger.
Most the work was in wiring the #1 AWG copper to the panel. The...
BTW safety switch is overkill - given the panel is just a few feet away.
#1 AWG is overkill, I blame @daveo4EV for the idea=)
This should compensate for my overheating PMCC with a plastic box that helps it retain even more heat. ?
Setup 1 complete. Setup 2 in works. All while having no car (still haven't taken delivery) - steering column module arrived today and was installed. Keys from Germany still not here. Re-ordered today directly from Germany since no ETA from Atlanta distribution.
50 AMP circuit breaker on...
I just did this. I paid $5/sq ft and went with a company that does a two day process… not one. It will last longer.
1) make sure they prep is right and fix any cracks and also diamond grind the surface for proper adhesion.
2) they should go up your wall a few inches and also do your garage...
