Anyone going back to a Tesla?

Something is wrong if this is true and not an exaggeration. I get >200 miles at 85% with no preconditioning (but with a garage) in sub-freezing temperatures.

Porsche 718 / 983 Boxster / Cayman EV Sports Car Announced For 2025 Launch

Hah, I'll accept that, even if I suspect it's not actually true!

BMW i4 M50 v Porsche Taycan review - The world's best fast EV? [Autocar]

Looks like it might be in the cleaning position. Maybe they lifted it up to give the car a spit-shine prior to all those close up glamour shots, and forgot (or couldn't figure out how) to retract it?

Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

Not buzzwords. Excluding Tesla and EVs that aren't widely available yet, show me an EV that's as good as the Taycan in all four of the areas I mentioned (power output, charge rate, battery thermals, and efficiency). If you don't like battery thermals, throw it out and just look at the other...

Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

The concrete advantage is the power output, charge rate, battery thermal management, and efficiency. There's no other widely-available non-Tesla EV that comes close to the Taycan in all four categories, and there are a lot that don't come close in any of them. It's harder to compare with Tesla...

Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

There are occasional bits of good information and discussion in this thread, if you stick with it through the other stuff! Re: Taycan's efficiency, I would like to make a couple of points: All of the new crop of EVs have bigger battery packs than the Taycan, so of course they have better...

Taycan Turbo S vs. Model S Plaid - really by this much!?

Yes, I did find the same sales number elsewhere. But my research showed the top trim level of the MY2015 Model S (P90D) went for $108k, and all the others were under $90k -- down to $70k for the 60. I don't see any $120k trim level. What's your source for that? By comparison to the Tesla MSRP...

Taycan Turbo S vs. Model S Plaid - really by this much!?

What's your source for those numbers? I'm curious what trim level of the Model S went for $120k in 2015.

Taycan Turbo S vs. Model S Plaid - really by this much!?

I've literally never before seen someone claim that the Model S is in the same market segment as the MB S-class and BMW 7-series.

    Anyone considering other EV's?

We have a $100 deposit down on an iD4 to use as a beater/commuter car. Our plan was to wait until electric pickups start rolling off the lines and then also look to replace my wife's truck with one of them. But her truck is currently in the shop with cam phaser issues, so the iD4 might instead...

Taycan Turbo S vs. Model S Plaid - really by this much!?

Conversations with Tesla fanboys can occasionally seem oddly 1984-ish. The Cybertruck is coming out in late 2022. The Cybertruck has always been coming out in late 2022.

Taycan Turbo S vs. Model S Plaid - really by this much!?

I think it probably varies. Certainly Teslas are dream cars for some people, especially younger people. Every couple of days I see something on social media of a 20-something leaning on the hood of his or her brand new Model 3, with a caption like, "My first car, and it's my dream car!" But the...

Would you consider a Hydrogen Fuel cell car?

Not true, the Challenger space shuttle was also fueled by hydrogen.

Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

I've never had a good experience with a BMW dealer. The best I can say is that they occasionally met my low expectations of them. (Usually they didn't.) Indie shops have much worse waiting rooms, but the results are so much better. Regarding delays, everything is delayed or backordered these...

Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

That's very similar to how I felt about the Y. It felt like a top-trim Ford Escape: a pretty basic car with all the basic components upgraded. Fit and finish was pretty comparable to an Escape, too. So I'd be a little more generous and say that, sans the powertrain, it should be a roughly $30k...

You wreck on a bike at 200mph, you probably don't even hurt anyone but yourself. You wreck on a 4500lb electric car with 2 kids in the back seat, and you probably kill or seriously injure at least 4 or 5 people.

Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

I almost got myself in trouble with a 4S demo car on the highway. I wanted to move over a lane to my right, and to keep from cutting anybody off, I wanted to speed up a bit and get some separation before doing the lane change. I put my foot down, checked my blind spot, looked back in front, and...

Because software is hard, and there's a lot of brand new software on a Taycan.
