Spent some time w/ Lucid Air this morning… impressions

I recently sold my Lucid position at a loss. They have some good tech bits - including market leading power:weight ratio with their motors, but the overall car isn’t compelling. It’s a shame. I hope they get bought out before they go bankrupt.

    Other Hobbies

Nice! I go by the same name on pinside if you want to talk about the silver ball over there. I suspect this crowd would get tired of it quick!

Tesla admits FSD is a pipe dream

Tesla’s manual clearly calls out that it may not detect stationary objects and that drivers need to stay attentive. Tesla’s autopilot is not an autonomous driving capability, it’s a driver’s aide just like Porsche innodrive. The fault is with the driver. Americans love to blame everyone other...

Tesla admits FSD is a pipe dream

Tesla’s lane keeping capability is at least 2x better than Porsche’s.

Switching from Telsa Model S to Taycan 4S. Feedback from anyone who has done this?!

The battery chemistry on the 90’s backfired on Tesla. They switched again for the 100’s which has less degradation.

    I was reminded

Tesla has offered to allow other manufacturers to use the SpC network. They need to “buy in” and nobody has taken Elon up on it. There have been pictures of a few CCS cars in Europe testing on SpCs. Elon confirmed it on an earnings call.

Edmund’s - Model S vs. Taycan Comparison Review

Eh, it doesn’t have to be negative. It’s just true.

Edmund’s - Model S vs. Taycan Comparison Review

hey, at least I called out my own bias? Clearly I need to spend time driving an EV in other parts of the world.

Bjørn Nyland a.k.a Teslabjorn quick review of Audi RS e-Tron GT

I would thumbs up twice if I could. It’s possible the software update could make it better.

Bjørn Nyland a.k.a Teslabjorn quick review of Audi RS e-Tron GT

I’ve hears of a few kids getting their fingers squished by the retracting handles on the Model S. Have you tried - opening your door (just a little), then opening the rear door to put in the kid? I suspect with the door ajar the handles will stay up. Or the reverse - don’t close the back door...

Bjørn Nyland a.k.a Teslabjorn quick review of Audi RS e-Tron GT

I agree on your first point. The button to open the frunk is electronic. It may be a button, but it’s not going to work without 12v. Re the handles, I suspect some prefer each style. I personally like the retracting handles.

Bjørn Nyland a.k.a Teslabjorn quick review of Audi RS e-Tron GT

He only had an hour with the car so it’s quick and incomplete.... It made me more comfortable with my decision to go with the Taycan.

Edmund’s - Model S vs. Taycan Comparison Review

Tesla wins on charging infrastructure. Not to kick the hornets nest, but if the charging reliability on EA is solved and they continue to expand, Porsche arguably wins charging with the 800V pack. Edit: obviously a US centric view, although I suspect Tesla has a leg up in almost all parts of...

[US] - Over the Top - the well equipped EV home garage…for those that wish to "over do it"…

I have a 200A sub-panel with its own meter for TOU pricing off 600A service. The sub-panel feeds 1 Tesla Gen 1 EVSE @ 100A and 2 Gen 2 EVSEs load-balancing 100A. I currently have 3 EVs and 11.2kW of solar. FOR THE WIN! :)

Tesla Model S Plaid+ on the website for configuration

A vehicle with Tesla’s batteries, drive train, tech, and Level 3 charging network combined with Porsche’s design, suspension, and interiors ... yes please. I’m about to give up my Model S P100D for a Taycan Turbo and I have mixed feelings about it. If we didn’t also have a Y (sold the X) and a...
