  1. Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

Gee... The sentiment was way different back when this happened. https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/taycan-fire-in-florida-garage.976/ I guess by your logic Porsche not properly testing thier cars before general release to the public has its drawbacks. But I'm sure there's much more...
  2. Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

Basically a stock Plaid with some bolt on go fast bits from unplugged and a stripped interior and a roll cage and required safety equipment. They literally had 2 weeks to prep the car. https://www.motortrend.com/news/tesla-model-s-plaid-pikes-peak-race/ "The body is stock except for a huge...
  3. Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

You're right the power "curve" will look same but the time to reach peak power would be way longer in the upper gear. This the reason for the 2 speed gearbox. It would take the Taycan motor way longer to spin up if they just used one higher gear. The reason to overspeed the motor if it can...
  4. Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

The reason why the Porsche has a 2 speed gearbox is because it won't make that power curve without one and still have good low end torque Thats exactly what I said. Let's see Porsche pull that power curve with one gear and have a 200mph top speed. It can't. It produces too much back EMF at...

Dave, Not to mention the new motors don't lose power at high RPM. Produces a flat power curve (1000hp) from 60mph (6k rpm) all the way up to 200mph (20krpm). All with one gear. That something that Porsche hasent Been able to figure out without a gearbox yet ?
  6. Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

Jimbob, To be honest they did 1.98 seconds 0-60 and a 9.2 sec 1/4 by NHRA standards and 2.07 seconds and a 9.3 sec 1/4 on unprepped asphalt. I don't know of any other car that can do that even under similar conditions. I don't know of any other production car that can do that even with slicks...
  7. Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

To be honest nothing is going to be done and nobody is going to be worried. To put this into perspective, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, and Suzuki have been selling 200mph 9 second squid missiles for the better part of 2 decades for $16,000 brand new. It comes standard with 2 less wheels, no...
