EVs are truly software defined vehicles and if it’s one thing traditional car companies don’t know how to do…it’s software. Just thinking of how VW’s Cariad effort is going to hell in a hand basket makes me go :headbang:

I wouldn't call Tesla the Apple of car industry. Apple HW devices are known for excellent build quality, fit and finish. Tesla cars are not known for either of those characteristics.
Same here. And I once wrote SW which runs on the Model S and X (or at least used to, dunno if they swapped it out).
My main issue with the Taycan actually has been related to hydraulics (air in the brake lines). Driving it is like getting the best of ICE and EV worlds whereas driving the Tesla...
If price is what you are indexing on, you shouldn’t be looking at a Porsche, regardless of whether you are buying an ICE car or EV. As for the rest, Dave’s post is spot-on.
Trust me, that's how I felt too when I purchased my 1st Model S. Its one thing about new vehicle models that hasn't changed when going from ICE to EV (except HW gremlins became SW gremlins).
Tesla decisively proved once for all that EVs can be aspirational and desirable vehicles, period. Before that the mainstream buyer thought of them as compromised products.
