It may indeed be more a matter of probability than certainty. Only a formal statement from Porsche may confirm the latter and Porsche is unlikely to claim or admit being driven by Tesla in its strategic choices. If I were Porsche, I wouldn’t.
It is deliberately a non-specific statement because the exact moment of validation is in the eye/mind of the beholder. For some who were just waiting for an EV other than a virtue-signaling eco-cart to have commercial appeal, that moment would have come sooner. For others who were waiting for...
Without taking any side in this slightly overheated debate, a couple of observations:
- Tesla validated that there is an economically viable market for BEV’s, so even if the Taycan would not have been ab initio conceived as a Model S competitor, Tesla‘s success as a company probably encouraged...
Well, may be true. Your guess of how Porsche will structure its future BEV model line-up is as good as mine. It is very well possible that Porsche will decide to have both a more sporty sedan (Taycan) and a more stately sedan (Panamera successor) in its range. However, with the current global...
I actually miss self-closing doors too. The biggest miss of the Taycan IMHO. However, if Porsche would convert the Panamera to a full BEV, it would be very close to and heavily overlapping with the Taycan in terms of dimensions and probably also weight, performance and road-feel…
Dear fellow forum members, time for a disclaimer: yes, I fully agree that the Taycan looks far better than either the Mercedes EQS or EQE. Yes, I also agree that many ICE cars look better than both Mercedes EV's. The only point I wanted to make is that IMHO the Mercedes EQE looks better than...
I am looking forward to the first member of our Taycan forum making an actual test drive with a Lucid Air him/herself and posting an assessment on our forum.
I saw one in person at Lucid’s Miami/Brickell showroom. The exterior is not very exciting. Nothing wrong with it but does not hit your emotions. A bit of a similar vibe as with the Mercedes EQS which I only saw in pictures and videos, by the way.
